China, one of the strongest technological powers in the world at the level of military, scientific or logistics applications, announced the development of an almost invulnerable drone.

A team of researchers from Northwest Polytechnic University (China) shared their new research on WeChat. This is an optics-powered drone, commonly known as an ODD, published south china morning post,

“The highlight of the research is a 24-hour intelligent vision tracking system. Long-range autonomous power replenishment even for ODD,” the team said on the official WeChat account.

With three different flight tests – indoors and outdoors, day and night – the drone successfully passed all tests. Thus, they managed to create a fully autonomous drone with intelligent signal transmission to track its flights.

Rescue of people and military maneuvers

The drone can be charged wirelessly when struck by lightning. The discovery could revolutionize human rescue operations in adverse conditions, such as climate-related disasters.

“In some time-consuming missions, such as searching for tourists trapped in flash floods, the continuous flight of the drone will save a lot of time for rescue,” he said.

They do not exclude the possibility of its use in military exercises. However, this would mean that the drones are ready to fly wherever they are ordered at any time.

As such, while other investigations have studied the use of lasers to destroy drones in a combat context, the team has focused on leveraging the beams to track them and autonomously operate them thanks to their photoelectric conversion modules. He has also been given power.

In the summer of 2022, China has already managed to build an unmanned ship known as Zhu Hai Yun, which is in charge of transporting dozens of drones. With this new technology, the drone will not even need to land during its work.

The researchers also highlight that, with a larger size, drones could be used to carry people, set up low-altitude satellites, or even create artificial moons.
