China rejects Taiwan president’s scale in the US

China firmly opposes Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen’s “transit” plan to visit the United States (US) to meet US officials and will take firm measures in such a case, official spokespeople said.

In a press conference, Zhu Fenglian, a spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Council, commented on the 66-year-old Tsai’s visit to Central America, but is expected to be a stopover in the US.

Reports claim that the island nation’s president may meet with US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in California after returning from Guatemala and Belize at the end of his trip.

Tsai will make her first stop in New York before flying to Central America in the afternoon.

Following the announcement of President Tsai’s “passage” through the US to Central America, China’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday accused the US of “creating” trouble by “supporting secessionists.”

“The real intention of the regional leader in the US is to advocate ‘Taiwan independence,'” said Mao Ning, a spokesman for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The mistakes of the past cannot excuse the mistakes of the present. It is not China overreacting, but the United States colluding with the secessionists to support the trouble,” Mao charged.

“China strongly opposes any form of official contact between the US and Taiwan and opposes any form of contact between US authorities and the DPP, which violates the one-China principle,” he said. a speaker speaking about the island nation’s democratic development. Party

The trip to Taiwan announced by her predecessor, Nancy Pelosi, last August, triggered an unusual response from China that launched military operations in Taiwan, an island nation of about 24 million located across the Taiwan Strait, in mainland China’s south.
