China firmly opposes Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen’s “transit” plan to visit the United States (US) to meet US officials and will take firm measures in such a case, official spokespeople said.
In a press conference, Zhu Fenglian, a spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Council, commented on the 66-year-old Tsai’s visit to Central America, but is expected to be a stopover in the US.

Tsai will make her first stop in New York before flying to Central America in the afternoon.
