Responsible for arranging Eid-ul-Fitr Namaz every year in Kolkata Calcutta Khilafat Committee (CKC), like every time, is waiting for the permission of the state government to conduct Namaz on Red Road. On this occasion, more than two lakh crowd gathers every year.
According to a report by the Millennium Post, Mallik Mohammad Ishaq, a member of the CKC, said, “We have already sent a letter to the Eastern Command last week. We are waiting to get permission from the state government. If the state government gives permission, Qari Fazlur Rahman will lead the Namaz on the Red Road while maintaining the Kovid-19 protocol. ”
Permission to hold open prayer sessions was denied last year due to the lockdown imposed due to the Kovid-19 epidemic. The gathering on the Red Road is said to be the largest gathering in the country for special prayers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. CKC has been conducting prayers at the Shaheed Minar Maidan since 1920 but it was shifted to Red Road 26 years ago.
Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on 13 May or 14 May on the basis of lunar darshan.
