As Twitter user “charlieintel” reports, players don’t need an account on Battle.net for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which will be released in October. Instead, a mobile phone number associated with a Steam account and an Activision ID is sufficient.
As always, next month will have an annual dose of Call of Duty for fans and “only” wanting to release premium content before taking a second break in 2023, as confirmed by Activision. A year later, Treyarch is said to be in charge of developing the next main title. Coming this year is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, a sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare and a revamp of the original 2009 Modern Warfare 2.
No Battle.net account required for MW2 on Steam
A few days ago, user “charlieintel” posted an update on the playability of the new entry in the first-person shooter series on Twitter. He explains that no Battle.net account is required if you want to play the title on Steam. All players need to have a Steam account linked to their cell phone number and an Activision ID. CharlieIntel further states that access to Warzone and Vanguard pre-order bonuses will be granted once players link their Steam account to Activision ID.
Meanwhile, Activision and Infinity Ward have released a roadmap showing what’s next for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 until the full game release on October 28. Next week, on September 15th, there will be a showcase event for Modern Warfare 2 called Call of Duty Next. After that, the first Playstation-exclusive beta weekend will be held until September 20th.
Suitable for: COD Modern Warfare 2: Finisher Moves, Red Light District and many swear words
Beta Weekend Number Two runs approximately a week later, from September 22 to September 26. Apart from crossplay, all other platforms (PC, Xbox, etc.) are taken into account. Eventually, those who pre-ordered are known to be allowed to run the campaign on October 20, a week before the full version is released.
