Colfax container condominium canceled

The fancy shipping container condominium project proposed for the West Colfax site will not be all that was planned.

The couple, who wanted to build the Stackhouse, a seven-story steel structure with slots for 62 container homes, said it would not climb 3425 W. Colfax Ave as planned.

Ryan Egan and his girlfriend Janelle Briggs previously signed a contract to purchase a 0.27-acre site. Egan said the couple wanted to renew the contract, giving them more time to close, but the property owner refused to do so.

“We had a series of extensions planned, and I told the landlord from the beginning that we would need at least a year or 16 months. We had about 12 months, but he has his own tax considerations, ”Egan said.

Stackhouse plans for buyers to pay between $ 110,000 and $ 130,000 for 320 square feet of container homes, and then pay another $ 200,000 to $ 350,000, depending on floor and view, for space in the West Colfax building.
