College football recruiting: Blake buys Cherry Creek claims as Colorado’s top edge rusher

Cherry Creek Jr. Blake Football Game Highlights Press play on tape for purchase.

12 — a physical 6-foot-4, 220-pound linebacker with blazing speed — create nightmares for opposing quarterbacks.

“I’m too fast off the edge,” Purchase said. “Maybe that’s what I’m most proud of.”

It also helped him produce four sacks and three tackles to make up for the loss in the first five weeks of this season. College football coaches across the country are taking note.

Purchasing as a 2023 four-star prospect (247Sports) is Colorado’s most sought-after edge, with nine scholarship offers including Colorado, Iowa State, and Southern California. Don’t plan to shop until the summer before your senior year. Before that the list of schools is set to increase.

However, as of now, the purchase is considering amateurs.

“CU is definitely a top school,” he said. “I really like it in Boulder.”

Expectations were always high that the purchase would evolve into a blue-chip recruiter. His older brother, Miles, was a star Cherry Creek RB/DB – named MVP of the 2020 Class 5A state football title game – who later signed to ISU. Blake said: “I definitely put a lot of pressure on myself to get into high school because of what[Miles]was already doing.”

But it didn’t take long for young Purchase to establish his identity within the program as a sophomore playing varsity.

“He was a guy who was plugged into a senior-dominated box on defense,” said Cherry Creek coach Dave Logan. “We let him put his feet under it and detect the motion. For a sophistication, he played really well last year. This year is a little different because we’re asking her to do more. He is definitely capable of it. “

Purchase has emerged as one of several leaders this season amid rare Cherry Creek fatalities. The Bruins broke their 25-game winning streak last month in a 17-7 road defeat at Arizona powerhouse Chandler High School. Cherry Creek’s defense allowed zero points in the second half but its offense faltered with a total of five turnovers.

Logan collects the Bruins after their first defeat since 2018.

“Coach Logan told everyone we had to bounce back,” Purchase said. “It was definitely tough to go there and lose the way we did. It was definitely a tough thing for us. But the coach said the leaders have to show up. We can still keep going and win the state championship.” Huh.”
