Who is Francia Marquez, the election phenomenon of the internal consultation of the Left and the candidate for Vice President of Gustavo Petro

Francia Márquez’s electoral results in consultation with the Left Coalition in Colombia were historic.
Francia Márquez (who grew up in Yolombo, Caca in 1981) is, according to her own description, Colombia’s first “Black, Afro-descendant, native of the poorest regions” who took a historic vote on March 13: It received over 783,000 votes in consultation with the historic treaty (14%). He ran on behalf of the Alternative Democratic Poll Party.
She was second only to Gustavo Petro, who would be the presidential candidate of the historic treaty. On 23 March, Petro announced that Francia Márquez would be his vice-presidential running mate. On 29 May, Petro-Marquez Formula won over 40% of the vote in the first round, and will now face Rodolfo Hernández and Marlene Castillo in the second round on 19 June.
Francia Marquez’s election incident
Although Petro’s victory was spectacular, Francia Márquez’s votes exceeded experts’ expectations, and she received more support from someone with more visibility such as Camilo Romero, the senator and governor of the Nario department.
For example, Francia Márquez’s vote exceeds that of the winner of the Center Consultation, Sergio Fajardo, who received just over 723,000 votes.
Francia Márquez visited a large part of the country to see – according to her – the politics of dignified and “elite”, women who have been violated and the victims of violence in this country.
“I come from the fields of the nobles and the nobles, I come from the fields forgotten in terms of social investment, but violate the policy of death,” Marquez told reporters in March. “So there would be no point in being part of the historical agreement if it’s not going to change the realities that people are still living in.”
