From January 25th to February 1st, 2024, Colombia will host Intercontinental Professional Baseball Series, Competition that aims for the participation of eight teams.
This is the old Latin American series that played from 2013 to 2019. and which is now changing its name due to the inclusion of representatives from other continents.
The organization is responsible for Team RenterÃa USA and the countries that would participate are Colombia, Curaçao, the United States, FEPCUBE, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia and Mexico.
It should be noted that FEPCUBE corresponds to this Professional Association of Cuban Baseball Players, with players born in Cuba or descendants of Cubans who trained on or live on American soil.
“We want to resume the Latin American Series but change the name to Intercontinental Professional Baseball Series (IPBS). The idea is that the countries that have already taken part participate together with the others from different continents. We want to summarize them. “Most countries have had this party, like we had in the Latin American series,” manifested Édinson RenterÃa, President of Team RenterÃa USA.
The leader added that an agreement was initially signed with the leagues to hold this series for the next five years. In addition, he added that by 2025, in addition to those already mentioned, the participation of leagues from other countries is also planned.
The event is organized every year alternately in the territories of different countries.
The team that represents Colombia will be the champions of the 2023-2024 Colombian Professional Baseball League. Colombia collects two titles in this championship: Tigres de Cartagena (MonterÃa 2014) and Leones de MonterÃa (Panama 2015).
