Colorado high school football: How CHSAANow Top 10 teams fared in Week 8

class 5a

1. Valor Christian (8-0) won at Highlands Ranch, 48-6. Gavin Sachuk cracked a pair of touchdown runs, including one from 71 yards, and Gabe Sachuk added a pair of TDs of his own. Next week: Versus Rock Canyon, October 22 at 7 pm

2. Cherry Creek (6-2) No. 8 Arapahoe, 13-10. but lost. The Bruins scored only one field goal in the first half, quarterback Christian Hammond bowled a pick-six, and a late comeback effort fell short as the two-time defending 5A champions lost in a surprise reversal. Next week: Vs Eaglecrest, October 21 at 7 pm

3. Legend (7-1) won in Douglas County, 49-7. The Titans advanced early with a punt return in the end zone and led with four touchdowns at halftime. Legend is currently on a six-game winning streak. Next week: At Doherty, October 22 at 7 p.m.

4. Columbine (6-2) won at Mullen, 28-14. The rebels’ defenses forced several turnovers. Senior running back Seth Cromwell put Columbine ahead with a quick score in the third quarter. Next week: Vs No. 7 Ralston Valley, October 22 at 7:30 pm

5. Won Grandview (6-2) at Eaglecrest, 38-17. Wolves senior running back Moses Alsfar started the game with a 50-yard rushing touchdown. Grandview also returned a kickoff in the end zone. Next week: At the Cherokee Trail, October 22 at 7 p.m.

6. Arvada West (6-2) lost at Pomona, 42-14. The Panthers kept the Wildcats scoreless in the first and fourth quarters for an upset victory. Pomona Seniors Dominic Nichols and Dion Mays hit four rushing touchdowns in total. Next week: Vs. Lakewood, 6 p.m. 21

7. Ralston Valley (7-1) won 33-0 at Lakewood. The Mustangs came back from their first loss of the season with an impressive defensive effort in their first shutout. Next week: No. 4 on Columbine, October 22 at 7:30 pm

8. Arapaho (7-1) vs No. 2 Cherry Creek, 13-10. won. An interception returned for a touchdown by senior linebacker Jack Weiler and two field goals gave the Warriors an upset victory. Next week: at Smoky Hill, October 22 at 4 p.m.

9. Regis Jesuit (5-3) won vs. Doherty, 56-3. Dallas Macias returned a punt for a touchdown in the first quarter and the Raiders scored 49 points in the first half. Next week: Vs 4A No. 3 Pine Creek, October 22 at 7 PM

10. Thunderridge (7-1) won vs Castle View, 38-3. Grizzlies senior JD Rickford kicked off the game in the fourth quarter with a 60-yard rushing touchdown. Next week: At Highlands Ranch, October 22 at 7 p.m.

class 4a

1. Montrose (7-0) at No. 10 Vista Ridge, Saturday at 1:30 PM. Next week: at Air Academy, October 22 at 6 pm

2. Dakota Ridge (8-0) won vs. Wheat Ridge, 56-6. Noah Triplett started things off with a pair of TD runs in the first quarter, Dante Capolungo added two touchdown catches and a pick-6, and the Eagles took 50 points for the third game in a row. Next week: No. 7 Golden, October 22 at 7 pm

3. Pine Creek (7-1) won at Chaparral, 48-21. Eagles senior quarterback Josiah Roy recorded four touchdowns (one while running) in an impressive performance. Next week: 5A No. 9 Regis Jesuit, October 22 at 7 pm

4. Erie (8-0) wins at Greeley West, 46-7. The Tigers scored 46 straight points in the opening two quarters of the game to begin the season with their eighth straight two-point victory. Next week: Vs Broomfield, October 22 at 7 pm

5. Palmer Ridge (7-1) won vs. Air Academy, 49-7. The Bears scored 21 points in each of the first two quarters for a runaway victory. Next week: Versus Legacy, October 22 at 7 pm

6. Loveland (6-1) v Longmont, Saturday at 11 am. Next week: at Greeley Central, 11 a.m. 23
