Right now, the Scrooges have to work for them. Halloween is over, it could be Thanksgiving (it’s practically December), which means it’s Christmas bar season guys.
To be clear: Christmas bars are coming; they cannot be stopped; and now there are at least six.
Starting Monday, holiday fanatics and anyone looking for a little extra in their lives between November and December can reserve a spot at one of six Miracle Christmas Bars around Centennial, Denver (two locations), Arwada, Louisville and Boulder …
That’s a lot of Christmas bar options considering last year’s Christmas (bar) was largely canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions. Now they are back with a vengeance.
Three brand new Christmas bars will debut on Front Range in 2021, at Boulder’s Avanti, South Denver’s Pindustry and downtown Denver Union. That means three rooftop bars dedicated to the festive extravaganza (Avanti Denver, Avanti Boulder and Pindustry); and one place in the underground Speakeasy style, decorated under the train station.
Add to that the Arvada Tavern, which is being redesigned again this year for Sippin ‘Santa, an optional Miracle Bar serving tropical cocktails. And Miracle on Main Street will return to Louisville with a winter village of heated private greenhouses.
In addition, Avanti Denver plans to spread its mood even more this season, through the rooftop bar and into the courtyard covered with tents.
“There will be more miracles at Avanti than ever before,” said Chad Michael George, operator of Miracle’s front range bars, which organizes five of the six establishments.
Reservation options differ for each of the six locations: one is open to entrances only, some require reservations, and others combine both options. All bars that choose to charge booking fees will donate those proceeds to charity, George said.
Cocktail options will also differ from past Christmas bars, with a few new drinks like Elfing Around (prosecco, gin, mulled wine, grapefruit bush, aroma and orange bitters).
And while I tend to start every Christmas bar season with a holiday, I am always thrilled to try this year’s Christmas bars. This time, my money was spent on a huge Pindustry roof and a new Union Station installation. And the dishes! New to the line are tiny glass-sized mugs with cute and naughty Santa Clauses (the latter winks).
