The Executive Director of the National Council for the Aging Person (CONAPE), José García Ramírez gave the first blow to start construction work on the Clemente Pérez de Home for the elderly in the province.
During the act, the director of CONAPE affirms that the older adults of Pedernales are guaranteed the programs and services that the institution executes in the fields of health, education, culture, recreation and economic transfer, thereby complying with their rights Is. Established by Law 352-98.
The official specified that, because of their vulnerability, the elders of this community need attention and added in this sense that the family, the community, the society and the state have a duty to guarantee their protection.
The work will be built with an investment of more than 9 million pesos, on a 1,552.52-square-meter piece handed over by the General Directorate of National Assets, in the Alcoa area, by the Popular Pension Fund Administrator, through. City Mayor’s Office.
The house is also supported by advice from the government, the Governor’s Office and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), while the qualifications (furniture and equipment), human resources and its operations are guaranteed in CONAPE’s 2024 budget. Order of President Luis Abinader.
Dr. José García Ramírez announced that the center will begin operations at the end of June in an office temporarily set up in government facilities.

From the beginning of 2022, CONAPE is implementing a plan to transform, improve, modernize and build day homes throughout the national territory with the aim of improving the quality of life of the elderly.
In their respective speeches, Altagracia Brea, governor of Pedernales province, and Joel Santos, minister of the presidency, reaffirmed the government’s commitment that the aging population of this demarcation will receive appropriate assistance for their well-being.
