Contorno Urbano Foundation wins Luis Carulla 2022 Prize

In the Florida region of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, emerges Modulo, an ecological and cultural center developed by the Contorno Urbano Foundation. Constructed from a port container, it has served to revitalize a previously blighted area and provide a space for social interaction within a very dense urban fabric. Next to the train tracks, residents have found a place to meet and do educational, cultural and leisure activities in a community way.

Contorno Urbano, specializing in revitalizing spaces with art, specifically murals, has been awarded this year’s Luis Carulla Award for Best Transformative Project. The foundation will receive 70,000 euros to develop the project, which it wants to export to other metropolitan cities such as Sant Vicente dels Horts, and will receive support from cultural and business mentors for two years.

On the other hand, the Llobregat Block Party Cultural Association has received the award for best idea for promoting rap battles in Catalan with Peripheria Gold Battle. The award, endowed with 30,000 Euros, will allow them to incubate and prototype the project and receive support from cultural and business mentors for one year. The promoters of the project plan to form a small human and technical team to professionalize the project and start implementing it in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
