Corals in Australia and penguins dive in America

Chur (dpa/tmn) – The Swiss Railways is looking for a world record for its 175th birthday: On October 29, 2022 the signal for the Rhaetian Railway’s 1910-metre-long train in Preda (Graubünden) will start green. The railway company reports that there has never been a longer passenger train in the world. The journey of the narrow-gauge railway takes you through narrow curves, numerous tunnels and over viaducts and bridges.

The 25 “Capricorn” multiple-unit train, containing more than 100 passenger cars, runs from Prada to Burguna on the UNESCO World Heritage route Albula/Bernina. After a 46-minute drive, a festive venue awaits. Arrival is possible only by train, the maximum number of visitors is 3000. Advance ticket sales start from August 2, 2022.

Indigenous guides lead to Australian atolls

Wuniyami – Tourists can now get to know Green Island through an indigenous tour on the Great Barrier Reef off the east coast of Australia. Guides from Gurugulu Gungganji (Yarabah) and Gimuy Yidinji (Cairns) talk about the celebrations of their two tribes, their rich heritage and their deep connection to the island and the sea.

A one-hour Wunyami Cultural Walking Tour is offered twice a day. Morning tour starts at 9.45 am, afternoon tour starts at 1 pm. The cost of participating in the tour is equal to 19 euros. The ferry to Green Island leaves at least twice a day from the Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns.

Immerse yourself in the world of blue penguins

SAN DIEGO – California vacationers can now visit the Bayster Family Little Blue Penguin exhibit, which features the world’s smallest penguins, at the Birch Aquarium in Scripps, San Diego. Just under 30 cm tall and weighing 900 g to 1.3 kg, “Little Blues” are known for their unique blue coloration and large personality. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of blue little penguins and learn about the challenges these birds face in the wild.

Qatar Airways will fly to Düsseldorf from November

Hannover/Doha – Qatar Airways announced a new connection. The airline will operate daily between Düsseldorf and Doha from 15 November. This makes Düsseldorf the fourth German destination to be served by Qatar’s national airline. The route is served by a modern Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which has 22 seats in business class and 232 in economy class.
