Coronavirus India News Live: India reports 18,930 new COVID-19 cases, up from 16,159 yesterday; 35 deaths in 24 hours

Covid-19 Live News Updates: India recorded 18,930 fresh Covid-19 cases and 35 deaths in the last 24 hours ending 8 am on Thursday, data from the Union Health Ministry showed. With a daily positivity rate of 4.32%, the total number of active cases now stands at 1,19,457. 14,650 patients have recovered from the infection.

The Union Health Ministry on Wednesday Reduced gap between second dose and precaution third dose Kovid-19 vaccine from nine months to six months. On Wednesday, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan wrote to the states that after completion of six months or 26 weeks from the date of second dose, it has been decided to give third dose to the adult population as a precautionary measure. Currently, preventive doses are available free of cost to priority groups – frontline workers, health workers and the elderly above 60 years of age – at government immunization centres. For people aged 18-59, the precautionary dose is available only at private immunization centres.

In a separate development, amid the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra, There have been no covid related deaths In Mumbai in last 22 days. On the second day, the number of new Covid cases in the city was less than 700. A day after registering 659 cases, the city recorded 695 cases on Wednesday. According to data shared by the health department here on Wednesday, the viral infection in Delhi reported 600 Covid-19 cases and one death, while the test positivity rate came down to 3.27 per cent. With the fresh cases and fatalities, Delhi’s COVID tally has gone up to 19,38,648 and the death toll has gone up to 26,276, the department said in a bulletin.
