Mark Robbins admitted that Coventry City’s dramatic drop in home results indicates a “worrying trend” that needs to be addressed next season.
The Sky Blues began the campaign at the Coventry Building Society Arena, winning their first six championship games and being unbeaten in seven, but this is in stark contrast to the way they ended the 2021/22 campaign with just three wins at home Is. new year clay
Reflecting on City’s latest defeat, a 2–1 reversal against play-off bound Huddersfield Town, the manager said: “The start of the game was really good in terms of the crowd and the atmosphere in the stadium. The way we started Well, we played really well and created a lot of chances, and in the end I think we’ve made 18 tries to score against a team that’s really bad, but we haven’t taken any till the death.

“The story of this is really that we’re really good and then we run out of possession and a chance ends up in the back of the net, and that’s something we have to improve upon.”
City dominated the first half, passing clear-cut opportunities from Martin Waghorn and Callum O’Hare, before Harry Toffolo gave the Terriers the lead with a curling shot into the top corner just before half-time. Robbins’ men dominated the last third in the second half but Town doubled their lead from a penalty when goalkeeper Ben Wilson dropped Lewis O’Brien in the box to score Foulino Anjorin from the spot.
Coventry returned to the net when Viktor Gyoceraes scored a consolation goal in the 90th minute.
“At home, we have had seven defeats in the last 13 games so far – quite a few – so this is a worrying trend and something we have to sort out,” the City boss said.
“But the way we play and support, and the confidence it gives to the players, is phenomenal. It’s a really tough league and you can look at it in a few ways. You might think we’re not that far from that top six, but the reality is that we’re quite far, and that’s two bits in two penalty boxes.
“We conceded soft goals today and it cost us because you lost 2-0 against that stingy defense, but we kept going and doing what we usually do which creates a really good opportunity Which we take after about six or so. Seven that we didn’t, and it really changes the face of the game. ,
He continued: “But I’ve been in the dressing room and it’s almost where it should be up there. You know the energy the crowd has put in today and the players have given them is phenomenal. The atmosphere was really nice. Even at the end of it, there was a huge thank you to him and actually the players. It was really nice to see, hear and feel.”
