The Ministry of Health reports that nationally new confirmed cases decreased by 15.4% in the past week, while they decreased by 22.9% in the past 14 days. Further, fifteen areas have reduced their cases in the last seven days and 16 have also done so in the last two weeks.
In case reports this Sunday, January 15, 2,476 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported across the country, with 14,406 examinations, PCR and antigen tests, with a positivity rate of 12.6% in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity rate in the metropolitan area is 12.75%.
Of the 2,476 new cases, 62% have been diagnosed by antigen tests, 25% have resulted from active case finding (BAC) and 11% of those notified are asymptomatic. Regarding the metropolitan area, it is 57% by antigen, 24% by BAC and 9% of reported cases are asymptomatic.
According to sampling, the areas with the most positivity in the past week are Coquimbo, Maule, Biobío and La Araucanía.
Meanwhile, the Atacama region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Coquimbo, Valparaíso and Ñuble.
As of today’s report, of the 2,476 new cases of COVID-19, 1,632 are symptomatic and 203 are asymptomatic. In addition, 641 positive PCR tests were recorded which were not notified.
The total number of people infected with Kovid-19 in the country has reached 5,087,555. As per the criteria of early stage, a total of 8,040 patients are in the active stage, considering a separation of 5 days from the onset of symptoms or from the test. Recovered cases stand at 4,998,237.
With regard to deaths, as per the information provided by the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS), in the last 24 hours, 13 deaths were recorded due to causes linked to COVID-19. The total death toll in the country has gone up to 63,509.
As of yesterday, 128 people were hospitalized in intensive care units, 97 of them with mechanical ventilation support. With regard to the Integrated Health Network, a total of 283 critical beds are available for patients, irrespective of the region they are located in.
With respect to laboratory network and diagnostic capacity, 14,406 PCR test and antigen test results were reported yesterday, taking the countrywide total analyzed to date to 47,930,512. Positivity in the last 24 hours at the country level is 12.59% and in the metropolitan area is 12.75%
