A gang of at least half a dozen robbers took thousands of dollars in cash, jewelry and other items from a Fairfax home early Saturday in the latest in a series of robberies to take place in Los Angeles this year. Los Angeles Police Department.
The most recent subsequent robbery occurred at 1:56 am Saturday in the 700th block on North Gardner Street, when someone reported that up to seven people had stolen “property and fled,” said officer Rosario Cervantes, press Los Angeles Police Secretary.
Cervantes did not provide details of the crime. Channel 5 KTLA-TV reported that the victims were attacked with weapons and that the suspects seized about $ 4,000 in cash, a diamond gold chain, two gold diamond rings and a Gucci item. According to the radio station, one of the men was armed with a pistol.
According to the LAPD, this is the most recent incident in which victims were robbed at their homes after being watched from places like Melrose Avenue, the downtown Los Angeles jewelry district, high-end restaurants and nightclubs in Hollywood, and the Wilshire area. … To date, police have identified 110 additional robberies involving six street gangs.
Police said not all crimes are linked, and some involve multiple robbers. Burglars target people based on the jewelry and clothing they wear and the type of vehicle they drive.
Among those harassed in recent weeks was The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Dorit Kemsley, followed by two men to her home in Encino. Video surveillance from October 27 showed that masked robbers smashed a sliding glass door and entered the house, where they fled with valuables worth up to $ 1 million, police said.
“As you all know, I went through a terrible ordeal that no parent or other person should have,” Kemsley wrote on Instagram. “I thank God for keeping me and my children from physical harm.”
A gang of masked robbers also tracked actor and former BET host Terrence Jenkins to his home in Sherman Oaks this month and tried to block him in an SUV, but police said he was able to escape in his car as the shots were fired.
Investigators compared a series of follow-up burglaries with knock knock burglaries that took place several years ago when similar robbers targeted wealthy neighborhoods. Celebrities have also been targeted by these thefts, including former Dodger Yasiel Puig, former Laker Nick Young, and rap artist Nicki Minaj.
Police issued an alert last week informing the public of subsequent home burglaries. They asked anyone with information that could lead to the identification and detention of the robbers to come forward.
The latest subsequent home burglary in the Fairfax neighborhood shocked neighbors, some of whom were shocked that it happened on their street.
One person who spoke to KTLA but did not want to reveal his name due to fears for the safety of his family said his surveillance camera showed the victims hiding in his backyard after they fled the attackers.
“It’s scary,” the man said about the incident. “We only got this house three years ago and my wife says we need to move from here.”
