On October 11, at 6:30 pm, in Bailén Street, 1 of Bilbao, headquarters of Mundoko Medikuak / Médicos de Mundo, and in an event organized by this NGO and the association of Euskadi-Cuba. Cuba , a speech will be held, open to the public, entitled “Cuba: right to health and medical cooperation in times of blockade”, with three speakers: Claudia Bernal (Cuba) and Javier Motta (Argentina) , in person, and Daylin Cárdenas (Cuba), via online.
Claudia Bernal is a young Cuban researcher at the CIGB (Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology) in Havana, where the first Cuban vaccine against Covid-19, Abdala, was developed., which is now applied, within the framework of South-South cooperation, in addition to Cuba, Mexico, Vietnam, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Syria. A volunteer in isolation centers and a Youth for Life Award winner, Bernal will focus his presentation on the efforts of science and public health in Cuba in the face of the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed on the Island by the US Government.
Javier Motta, representative of A Better World Is Possible Foundation (Argentina), will talk about the experience of South-South cooperation with Cuba in his country and, in particular, the so-called Operation Miracle of free ophthalmological operations for people without resources, carried out by the Ernesto Che Guevara Ophthalmological Center in Córdoba, as well as networking, mobilization and community change generated from the said program of solidarity in Cuba.
Daylin Cárdenas is an internationalist Cuban doctor, which is currently assigned to the Ernesto Che Guevara Ophthalmological Center in Córdoba (Argentina), in the so-called Operation Miracle. With two specialties (comprehensive general medicine and ophthalmology), he is also an assistant professor and associate researcher at the “Ramón Pando Ferrer” Cuban Institute of Ophthalmology in Havana. He previously conducted a mission in Angola (2008) and Haiti (2020).

The presence of Claudia Bernal is part of the tour that, in the month of October, she will carry out in the towns of the Spanish State, led by the groups of the State Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MESC).
