In the Web Series category, the Independent Series 11:Eleven was a finalist at the 8th Annual Global Web Series Festival 2022 held in Hollywood.
“This category puts us in the final stages of the competition with valuable submissions from different countries. My congratulations to all my colleagues!” Iran Capote, screenwriter for the audiovisual production, made the announcement on Facebook.
The series was created by Jonathan Montelongo Placencia and directed by Ernesto Naveda. As an independent production, it was broadcast on the YouTube channel Vision Plus Productions.
“An invisible thread connects those who are destined to meet regardless of time, place or circumstances. The thread may be stretched or tangled, but it can never be broken. 11 like this one: One-time’s The stories unfold. Because coincidences are not luxuries, they are just another face of fate… and something else”, indicates the summary of the first chapter.
The series was released on the digital platform on 7 June. However, its presentation to the public was not without controversy, as it was an independent production, so doors were initially closed for it.
Initially, the location that was planned for the series premiere was the Picart Bar & Restaurant in the center of the city of Picar del Río, the province where the filmmakers are based; However, the business owner alleged that the production “is not official and is not associated with the culture.”
Facing the denial, Amanda María Sánchez Márquez, part of the series’ cast, said on Facebook that the audiovisual work was done with the resources of each of the people involved in the production: “We were sticking with that little What we had, without the help of any institution of this government and you know what? We achieved it, we did it, it has quality, and it has heart”.
Finally, Mogoté Café Bar, located in Viales, opened its doors so that the cast and production team shared with the public and the work premiered.
The contest is promoted as “a great opportunity for those who want to get more exposure for their web series”, for which it opens three categories: web series, web series script and web series pilot.
On occasion, over 30 works aspire to the Grand Prize, while the series 11: OnceMade from western Cuba, competes against 19 offers from different countries.
As part of the selection process, three episodes of each proposal are analyzed and scripts of any length or format are accepted.
Final works were produced in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, Denmark, France, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Lebanon, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States.
The award ceremony for the works will take place on September 8, 2022.
