A young Cuban was arrested in the Little Havana neighborhood in Miami for stealing a car and a cell phone after threatening its owner with a firearm.

According to an arrest report, the crime occurred in the 900 block and 3rd Street in Southwest (SW) Miami shortly before 1:30 a.m., when the victim was parking his car at his home. As she walked to the mailbox, three men approached her from behind.

According to the victim’s testimony, one of the assailants pointed a gun at her and ordered her to sit on the ground. The criminals then took the victim’s wedding ring, an iPhone 13, her Apple Watch, a backpack and the keys to her white Honda Passport, which they fled the scene with.
The GPS location of her mobile phone helped the victim to call the police from her boyfriend’s phone and inform them about the location of her car. According to the police report, agents traveled to the site by cell phone coordinates, located at the Sugarhill Apartment Complex, Northwest 71st Street and 14th Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found the car and saw the three suspects jump over a fence. Two of the presumed suspects managed to escape on foot, but the third was taken into custody and was later identified as Orfilia.
The victim identified him as one of the three suspects in the assault and carjacking, as he was dressed similar to one of them. There is currently no information about the other two, who fled on foot and who may have assaulted the victim.
According to reports from the authorities, Orfilia was “highly intoxicated”, which is why the police were unable to question him after his arrest. However, he appeared before a judge charged with armed robbery and car theft, for which he decided to detain him at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGK) without the right to bail due to the gravity of the facts.
