Cyclone Asni Location, Asani Cyclone Landfall Update Highlights: According to the latest update by IMD, Severe Cyclonic Storm Asani lies about 210 km south-southeast of Kakinada, 310 km south-southwest of Visakhapatnam. It is very likely to approach the Kakinada and Visakhapatnam coasts by the morning of May 11 and further move along the Andhra Pradesh coast and weaken into a cyclonic storm by then.
The IMD forecast said that thereafter, Asni may move away from the land and move towards northwest Bay of Bengal. The IMD has also said that the severe cyclonic storm is not likely to gradually weaken and make landfall in the next 24 hours. However, heavy to very heavy rain has been warned in some areas of North Coastal Andhra for the next two days.
The Met Office has advised that tourism activities in coastal areas and sea beaches be suspended till May 13. Fishing operations in west-central and adjoining Bay of Bengal will be completely suspended on May 10 and 11 and in north-west Bay of Bengal. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea till May 12. Those out to sea are advised to return to the shore.

The Meteorological Office had said that due to the cyclone, the southern part of West Bengal, including Kolkata, Howrah, Purba Medinipur, North and South 24 Parganas and Nadia districts, is likely to receive heavy rains between Monday and Thursday.
