According to Deadline, Star Wars veteran Daisy Ridley has signed on for the lead role in Casino Royale director Martin Campbell’s upcoming action thriller, tentatively titled cleaner, Production is expected to begin at the end of summer this year.
“The Cleaner is a thrilling thriller, unique and original in both its characters and its setting. “Much of the film takes place hundreds of feet in the air, on the side of the Shard, and I want the audience to be in for a dizzying, stomach-turning experience with Joey,” Campbell said in a statement. He said, “There is no actress more poised and powerful than Daisy to help us at this point. Most of my films have been thrillers and Cleaner is one of the best films I have ever read.”
What to Expect in a Cleaner?
Martin Campbell will direct Cleaner. Ridley will play Joey Locke, an ex-soldier turned window washer who finds himself in the middle of a terrorist attack. The project is produced by Sébastien Rebaud and Calum Grant, with financing and production by Anton.
“Set in present-day London, the film will see radical activists take control of an energy company’s annual celebration at the Shard, Western Europe’s tallest skyscraper, taking 300 people hostage in order to expose the hosts’ corruption. ” ,
“Their just cause is hijacked by a zealous extremist within their ranks, who is prepared to murder everyone in the building in order to send his anarchic message to the world. It takes an ex-soldier to clean a window.” It is up to Wale, Joy Locke, who is suspended 90 floors high outside the building, to rescue those trapped inside and apprehend the killers, as well as find a way to bring the corrupt to justice.”
Ridley is no stranger to action. The actress previously directed Lucasfilm’s Star Wars sequel trilogy and the 2021 film adaptation of Chaos Walking. It was recently announced that Ridley would be reprising her role as Rey in an untitled Star Wars film from director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. The project will reportedly take place 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, and will follow Rey as she assembles a new Jedi Order.
