29 September (WNN) — Daniel Craig will return to Broadway in the spring.
The 53-year-old actor will star in a new production with Ruth Nega macbeth At the Lyceum Theater in New York.
Craig and Negga will play Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in the play, which will mark a 15-week engagement. Displays begin on March 29, 2022, with production officially opening on April 28.
macbethAn adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play, directed by Sam Gould. Barbara Broccoli, who currently produces the James Bond film franchise starring Craig, will serve as a producer.
Additional casting will be announced later.
“Daniel is not only a great film actor, but a brilliant theater actor as well,” Broccoli said in a statement. “I’m thrilled that he will be supporting his return to Broadway by playing this iconic role, which stars the outstandingly talented Ruth Negga making her Broadway debut and under the expert direction of Sam Gould.”
Craig most recently appeared in the 2013 production on Broadway Betrayal. He previously collaborated with Gold on the 2016 Off-Broadway production othello.
Craig will return as James Bond no time to die, his fifth and final film as the character. Broccoli said in an interview this week that he and other manufacturers would not discuss a replacement for Craig until 2022.
Negga is best known for playing Raina agents of SHIELD and Tulip O’Hare preacher.
