A big win in his debut in the elite of mixed martial arts that has got Peru excited again with the UFC, but more with the story of the fighter himself. It was very heartbreaking to travel to the United States and train on the same night as the day of her wedding. On January 19 last year, she had to take her bag and leave for Florida after seeing her partner dressed in white. “It was tough, I couldn’t celebrate. I had to give up my two kids, but I was going for my dream”, she tells us, an inescapable twinkle in her eye.

His dream is to become the Mixed Martial Arts World Champion and his goal in the UFC is at bantamweight. But the path is long, although he already knows about the sacrifices. Because he had a very small heart while working in the parts store or selling cell phones. He gave his heart when, during the pandemic, he had to stop training and fighting to sell masks or find scooters to make deliveries. He gives everything in life.

And your effort is rewarded. Because of being in Florida and needing to send money to his family, he had to wash dishes at a food store. “Wednesday was the day, I went to wash the dishes. At 3 in the afternoon they called me to fight Dana White. That day I washed all the services until midnight, because then I was going to devote myself only to training”, he says in a brief description of the film of his life. The effort paid off. He won the Contender Series from Brandon Lewis. , which earned him a contract with the UFC.

Daniel Marcos: “I have the potential to be a champion”

On January 21, he made his debut and defeated Simón Oliveira at UFC 283 in Brazil. His path is not taking the name of stopping. – His Feelings – After his win, Daniel Marcos will spend a couple of weeks in Lima and then travel to Florida to continue his camps.

How do you debut like this?

Don’t worry. This is the dream debut. I worked for him and everything I’ve been doing has shown results in the cage.

—Does the win renew your contract with the UFC?

I have signed for many fights. I started with Dana White, a more private show, and am now touring a bigger show in a high-pressure country like Brazil. It gives a lot to talk about. I hope UFC can open more doors for Peruvians.

—How do you tame a monster like UFC?

The most important thing for me is God. I believe in my work, I believe in my team I train at American Combat Gym in South Florida. UFC is very difficult to master, but you have to keep a cool head and know where you can go. That’s what matters.

—What Makes Only a Few Champions?

I always say, they are champions because they work hard. I am just like them, I am doing whatever sacrifices I have to make. I have the skills and qualities, I have the potential to be a champion. Ain’t nobody gonna get it out of my head.

— Is your style to find knockouts?

I will be ready with whoever they put me with. I’ll go out to demolish my victim, if he’s drowned in his own blood or KO’d, I’ll go out to win. it’s my style. As I say, I’m a dog and I’m very hungry.

“What will happen next?”

In two weeks I will return to training. I should travel to Florida for my camp in the fortnight of February and see when they schedule me. I want to fight in two or three months, May or June, but if it’s sooner, I’ll be ready.

—What do you watch in the UFC? fame? Funds?

Money is very important to everyone, but like I said, money is secondary to me now. There are many victories I need to add to reach my goal, which is to win the belt. What I’m looking for is to become a world champion.
