De Le Salle’s head basketball coach Justin Argenal is moving up the college ranks.
After five successful seasons at Powerhouse High School, Argenelle will become head coach at the Dominican, a Division II program in San Rafael, the school announced Tuesday.
“Justin has all the coaching qualities we’ve been looking for and we can’t wait to bring him on board,” Dominican athletic director Amy Henkelman said in a statement. “As a player, Justin played at the NCAA Division II level and has been a coach at many levels and in many different positions.
“His knowledge and experience will allow him to be a great mentor and leader of our student-athletes, helping them reach new heights on and off the court. We look forward to injecting their energy, basketball knowledge and diverse skill sets into our program.” Can’t wait for that.”
As de la Salle’s head coach, Argentine led the Spartans to a 113-33 record and won the NCS Division I championships in 2017, 2019 and 2020. He was named NorCalPreps Northern California Coach of the Year and NorCalPreps NCS Division I Coach of the Year. year in both 2017 and 2019.

Prior to his stint with De La Salle, Argenelle spent time as an assistant coach at Cal State Dominguez Hills, Southeast Missouri State and The Citadel.
A Bay Area native, Argenelle was a point guard at De La Salle before playing collegiately at UC Riverside and Chico State. He left Chico State as the program’s all-time career leader in aid and evasion.
