The morale of Russian troops in Ukraine is low. This is also shown by letters found in the free city of Isume.
Russian soldiers fled from Izium.
Ten days before the recapture of the Ukrainian city of Izium, some Russian soldiers write letters on the spot. These paint a picture of a lack of morale – and of desperate soldiers.
One writes: “Because of the lack of vacation days and because I am morally exhausted, I refuse to perform my duty in a special operation on Ukrainian territory.” The Washington Post quoted it from a letter from a Russian soldier. He writes that he is the commander of an anti-aircraft missile platoon from the Moscow region.
