According to the report, the Censor Board has demanded 250 cuts in ‘Ganga Jamuna’. These cuts are made because of obscenity. The CBFC also refused to grant the certificate. Upset with the CBFC, Dilip Kumar expressed his views before Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, who was the Prime Minister of the country at the time. The PM immediately resolved the matter and released the film.

There was a lot of hype before the release of ‘Ganga Jamuna’, so Dilip Kumar was in doubt about whether people would go to watch the film or not. But as soon as it was released, people started running to the cinema. It became a blockbuster film in the year 1961.

‘Ganga Jamuna’ won awards in several categories, including Best Actress and Best Dialogue. According to Box Office India, the film earned Rs 7 crore in India during that period, while it earned Rs 4.27 crore in foreign countries. Talking about the worldwide collection, it collected a total of Rs 11.27 crore.
