If you rode the 136 Brentwood Station bus on Thursday afternoon, you may be able to help police.
Burnaby RCMP are working to identify the suspect in an indecent act on Lougheed Highway, where a driver was spotted masturbating in his car.
Police are calling for additional witnesses to come forward with information on the incident that took place on Thursday, May 12. A Burnaby RCMP press release says that, at about 3:55 pm that day, a driver was seen masturbating inside his car while at a red light.
The car was stopped next to a westbound 136 bus on Lougheed Highway, near Gaglardi Way, and a teenage passenger on the bus took video of the suspect.
Police are now sharing the suspect’s image and description in the hopes of identifying the driver.
The suspect is described as:
- a white man of about 50 years old
- medium to heavy build
- wearing a black jacket with white stripes
The man did not appear to be wearing pants, as he was exposed from his waist to his knees.
The car appears to be grey.
Police are working to get other evidence, including other possible video from the area, since the video shot from the bus did not capture a view of the vehicle or the license plate.
Officers would also like to hear from other passengers who were on board the westbound 136 Brentwood Station bus at the time.
“The Burnaby RCMP is looking to speak with anyone else, including drivers or other bus passengers, who may have also witnessed this indecent act or seen the suspect or his vehicle. This is concerning behaviour. Police want the public to be aware of this incident and to report any similar activity,” Cpl. Alexa Hodgins said in a media release.
The Burnaby RCMP has not received any recent reports of similar behaviour, but police are checking for similar incidents in other nearby jurisdictions, the release says.
