Doncic, Mav’s Top Jazz 114-100 for home court indoor tracks

DALLAS ( Associated Press) — Luka Doncic scored 32 points as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Utah Jazz 114-100 on Sunday night for a home-court advantage in a first-round playoff matchup.

The Mavericks (46–29) went one game ahead of the Jazz (45–30) to finish fourth in the Western Conference and earned a split of the season series, with the home team winning all four games.

Dallas would have to finish a game ahead of Utah if the Jazz maintained a 1 1/2-game Northwest Division lead over Denver. The Mavericks and Jazz have seven games left.

Rudy Gay scored 18 points for the Jazz, their fourth consecutive loss on a season-long, six-game journey that ends Tuesday night against the Clippers in Los Angeles.

Defensive veteran Rudy Gobert was a late scratcher for Utah with a 7-foot-1 center right foot injury, with another 7-footer, Hasan Whiteside, sitting for the second game in a row with a right foot sprain.

Bojan Bogdanovic was out for the ninth time in 10 games as he struggled with a right calf strain, and Utah suffered a scare in the third quarter when Donovan Mitchell briefly left the game after landing on Dwight Powell’s lower right foot. .
