Rohit Sharma’s participation in the rescheduled fifth Test against England at Edgbaston was put into doubt after he tested positive for COVID-19. It is still unknown whether the India captain will recover in time to be fit for the all-important Test. Many names have come up to replace Rohit if he is not well in time. But there is only one name for former Australia spinner Brad Hogg and that is Virat Kohli. Hogg, speaking on his YouTube channel, said that Kohli started this series as captain and should be able to finish it as one.

“It has taken one test to go into this series and a year to complete it but India is going on the back foot in this test match. England are on a roll, they just beat New Zealand and now India got a headache Rahul the vice-captain is injured. Rohit is on a sick bed with covid. Will he wake up for this test match? If he doesn’t, who will be the captain?” Former Australian cricketer said.

“There has been talk about Bumrah. But for me, it has to be Kohli. He started this series as captain, he should end the series as captain. Don’t give it to anyone else. It will give India 2 -1 at the moment, give Virat Kohli the right to be able to defend this title and defend the series to help his team win this final Test,” said the former left-arm wrist spinner.

The first Test at Trent Bridge ended in a draw, after which India took a 1-0 lead in the series with a win at Lord’s. The third Test at Headingley, Leeds went in favor of the hosts as they leveled the series.
