Dorah, July 9
Doraha police claimed to have solved the murder mystery of former Chankoian Khurd sarpanch Jagdev Singh. The police, after the investigation, concluded that the drug addict son of the deceased had committed the murder.
Khanna SSP Ravi Kumar, while addressing a press conference today, said that a team, led by SP(I), Khanna, Amandeep Singh Brar, managed to solve the murder mystery of the former sarpanch of Chankoian Khurd village in less 24 hours. DSP (I), Khanna, Manjit Singh, Payal DSP Harwinder Singh Khaira, in charge, CIA, Khanna, Vinod Kumar, and Doraha SHO Lakhveer Singh were part of the team.
The Payal DSP said that Jaswinder Singh alias Jassi, the eldest son of the deceased, had been nominated to have committed the murder.
“During the investigation, it was discovered that Jaswinder walked to the animal farm where his father was sitting in a chair at the same time the murder took place. It was also revealed that Jaswinder was wearing a plaid shirt at the time that had blood stains on it. Later, he changed it to hide the evidence. However, he forgot to change his shorts, which also had blood stains on them. The police obtained these details from the village residents and the CCTV footage,” he said.
“Jaswinder was found to be a drug addict and a slacker. His father used to work alone in the fields and on the dairy farm even in old age. His youngest child, who remained in Canada, provided financial assistance to his father to support herself. He also used to send money for his trip to Canada. Jaswinder thought his father was leaning more toward his youngest child. He was upset with the deceased for paying more attention to his younger brother. Also, he also didn’t get money for drugs when he used to demand them. Above all, the greed to seize his father’s land and property forced the suspect to kill him. Based on a thorough investigation, Jaswinder has been nominated to be the murderer of his father. He will be arrested soon,” the DSP said.
The body of the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood by one of his servants who arrived around 2:00 p.m. this Friday to carry out his daily work. He was hit in the head with knives. His fingers were also cut off mercilessly. Jagdev resided in Canada with his wife and his youngest child. He had come to stay with his eldest son and his family in the village and he was supposed to return to Canada in the next few days.
