Cuban authorities revoked the probation of dozens of people previously sentenced to prison in response to a spike in crime in the city.
The Mauro Torres 2.0 Facebook page linked to the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) reported that prisoners controlled by the execution judge were re-arrested after their conduct was evaluated by the police and the court.
“This type of meeting has been held in the municipalities of Centro Habana, Cerro, Marianao, Habana del Este and San Miguel del Padrón, although it is not ruled out that it could take place in other places,” he said.
An alleged witness identified as Maikel Hidalgo Cruz explained that the police, as a prophylaxis measure, pointed out those who violated the law and detained them for misconduct and sentenced others ; and detains those who do not obey the law or who have committed other crimes.
“These people are being prosecuted for various crimes and the best part is that anyone who doesn’t go to jail gets a good lesson in what can happen to them,” he said.

The perpetrator, identified as Alexis Pupo and a resident of San Miguel del Padron, declared more than 20 robberies and on May 8 he was arrested for robbery with violence.
Likewise, officials in Holguin province acknowledged that thefts have increased in recent months so much that the population has reason to be concerned.
