DP World San Antonio employees warn of possible mobilizations

Workers of DP World San Antonio announced possible mobilizations due to their disagreement with the company as a result of a voluntary retirement policy promoted to adjust employee payrolls, which is being observed in various terminals in the country due to the economic situation and the decline in wages. “To the users of the DP World San Antonio terminal, we apologize and ask for your understanding for possible disruptions in the normal flow of processes, as from tomorrow, the 20th of this year, we will gradually begin demonstrations as a sign of the incident widespread discontent about the measures that are being developed,” the workers in the group said in a letter Port Employees’ Professional Union (Semproport).

According to the union, 29 people opted for voluntary separation, including 20 from DP World San Antonio and 9 from Muellaje Central, who were deprived of any compensation; However, according to the version, the number was not enough, so the company demanded that another 19 employees resign from their jobs.

The situation in this sense that the Semproport workers claim is that DP World initially told them that this voluntary layoff program would affect 5% of the plant, but it has reached 13% if only DP World workers are taken into account. San Antonio and not Muellaje Central, which they considered discriminatory.

For the same reason, workers asked managers to find another way to increase efficiency.
