Dr. Dre and ex-wife Nicole Young reach $ 100 million divorce deal amid sharp split

Rapper / producer Dr Dre, who is worth $ 820 million, has completed his divorce from Nicole Young for $ 100 million (£ 74 million).

The artist, whose real name is André Romel Young, has been married to Nicole Young for almost 24 years and they have two grown children: Truis, 24, and Truly, 20.

Sources told NBC News that under the terms of the settlement, which took 18 months to complete, Ms. Young will receive $ 50 million (£ 37 million) immediately, with the remaining $ 50 million in a year.

Ms. Young leaves the marriage with all her jewels, as well as four cars: a Rolls Royce, a Range Rover, an Escalade limousine and a Spyder motorcycle.

Ms. Young, 51, is forced to leave her home in Malibu, California, by the end of the month and is due to pay its own legal fees – believed to be in the millions of dollars – under the agreement.

Dre, 56, who is worth the equivalent of £ 620 million at current prices, will retain much of his fortune, including master records, trademarks and interests in various partnerships and trusts, according to sources.

He will also keep all his Apple shares, including proceeds from the sale of Beats, which Apple bought in 2014 for $ 3 billion.

The musician will have six cars and seven properties for the couple, including a house in Malibu, two houses in Calabasas in the hills northwest of Los Angelesand four other properties in the Los Angeles area, including a $ 100 million estate in Brentwood, west of Beverly Hills, sources said.

Rolling Stone reported that Dre was clearly “glad” that his ex-wife received only a fifth of his liquid assets and that she would have received more if she paid off earlier.

Ms. Young agreed to the prenuptial agreement when the couple got married in 1996, which she later challenged, claiming it was signed under duress.

Dre’s ex-wife originally filed for divorce in 2020, alleging she was abused and suffered from “PTSD.”

Ms. Young stated in court documents that Dre “put a gun to my head” and “punched me in the head / face” twice in 1999 and 2000.

Dre flatly denied the accusations.

The rapper who made a name for himself in the NWA ahead of a lucrative career as a solo artist and producer for a number of top hip-hop stars such as Eminem, 2Pac and Snoop doggHe was originally reported to be divorced in early December when he was spotted in a photo under balloons labeled “DIVORCED AF”.
