Drive-in cinema Munich-Esheim: e-mobility drivers load in the front row

ChargeOne, a specialist in e-mobility charging solutions from Munich, announces the successful e-mobilization of an unusual parking space: the DriveIn drive-in cinema in Munich-Esheim. ChargeOne is already implementing charging infrastructure projects for E-Fleets in supermarkets, healthcare facilities and the company’s car parks. Along with the Ashheim Drive-in Cinema, it is now also driving the expansion of the charging infrastructure for leisure facilities. The drive-in cinema now has 38 charging stations with 11 kW charging capacity, allowing guests to charge their e-cars while enjoying the cinema.

The Drivein drive-in cinema in Munich-Assheim, which is open all year round, was built in 1967. The traditional company invites you to have a cinema experience in an area of about six hectares – and now also for the “e-tank experience”. For this purpose, ChargeOn installed 38 charging stations and successfully powered them up. Charging points are installed in the most popular area of all drive-in cinemas: in the first lines of the main cinema. With a projection screen of 540 square meters, there is space for up to 600 cars in front of the two large cinemas.

IOur Mission: The Best Film Experience for Our Guests. That’s why we always want to keep our finger on the pulse. The latest blockbusters, your favorite classics and exclusively with the latest technology: our digital projectors bring 7000 watts to the screen and an additional 22,000 watts for cinema seats in our new ChargeOn charging stations.“, says Stefan Mund, Theater Manager Munich-Esheim and Head of Marketing Drivein Germany Group. And it was clear to us: The charging stations in our cinema have to be first in line. It makes the presentation of the film even more electrifying., ,

Normal chargers of 11 kW were installed to charge the Pragati during the cinema visit. They can also be used out of season as they are open to the public. Charging stations from ChargeOne partner Complo were installed at the drive-in cinema in Ashesheim.

“Charging as a Service” Rental Model as a Complete Package

Ashheim Drive-in Cinema and ChargeOne look forward to continuing to work together. In addition to the project requirements analysis and installation of charging stations, ChargeOn, as a Charge Point Operator (CPO), also handles the ongoing operation, maintenance and billing of the visitors’ charged electricity.

IWith a project like this, there are many aspects to consider, from the correct charging technology to billing guests to securing a power supply. One point that was very important to us: that our projectors can deliver full power regardless of how many charging points are currently in use‘ says Mund.

IFor electromobility with the future, the charging infrastructure needs to expand – and not just at home, but especially on the go. Drive-in Cinema Shows How It’s Done: Companies, regardless of industry, can make a difference as well as open up a new customer group: the e-mobilists of tomorrow“, says Robert Klug, managing director of ChargeOne.
