Driver charged with killing 2 cyclists, IBS caused him to ‘defecate uncontrollably’, turn car

A Utah woman is facing charges after she allegedly crashed her car Two cyclists in and then walked away from the scene. Later both the cyclists died.

The suspect, Julie Ann Budge, blamed the accident on her irritable bowel syndrome, According to KUTV affiliated with Salt Lake City CBS.

The victims, two brothers from California, participating in a local bike race, were riding on a street in the state’s southwest city of Washington.

That’s when Buzz told police she “began defecating uncontrollably” in her car, causing her to suddenly lean over and hit the men, according to KSTU, an affiliate of the Salt Lake City Fox.

Buzz told responding officers that he had “various medical problems” and did not see the two men. She also said that she could not stop her car after the accident unless it stopped several hundred yards away from the crash site.

Two people whose names have not been released, The injured were taken to a local hospital where both died.

An eyewitness told police that the suspect “did not intend to stop after hitting two cyclists,” KSL.com reported.

According to KSTU, Budge reportedly failed a series of field sobriety tests and told officials she had been taking fentanyl through an IV drip since she was hospitalized the day before.

Buzz was booked into the Washington County Jail where he is in custody. On Monday, he was charged with two counts of automobile homicide with criminal negligence, two counts of DUI, leaving the scene of an accident related to death, reckless driving and improper lane travel.
