MANILA ( Associated Press) – The daughter of outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte in the Philippines was sworn in as the new vice president on Sunday after winning an election despite allegations of human rights violations during her father’s presidency.
Sarah Duterte took the oath in her hometown of Davao and where she was until now mayor.
This occurs approximately two weeks before the commencement of work on 30 June, as prescribed by the Philippine Constitution. Elected President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will take oath on June 30 in Manila.
“I’m not the best or smartest person in the Philippines or the world, but no one has the passion of my heart as a Filipina,” Duterte, dressed in a traditional green dress, said in his speech before the Supreme Court. Justice and placing your mother’s hand on the Bible.

President Rodrigo Duterte was present at the ceremony in a public square near City Hall in Davao, where he was also mayor in the 1980s. His modest middle-class family built a formidable political dynasty in a region plagued by Maoist and Islamic insurgency and violent political rivalry.
