Hollywood is paralyzed by the writers’ and actors’ strike, so some of its superstars are looking for other places to be seen. This is the case of Dwayne Johnson, the great action movie superstar and former WWE wrestler, who made a surprise appearance on the final night of SmackDown and caused a sensation among fans. But the most anticipated moment came when The Rock engaged in a “tense” face-to-face duel with John Cena, another of the current action movie actors and Johnson’s old acquaintance in the ring.
The Rock takes on John Cena
And both actors are part of two great current action film franchises like DCEU and Fast & Furious. So much so that in the DC Universe Dwayne Johnson played Black Adam, while in Fast & Furious he is Luke Hobbs, a character who will return to the saga in the next Fast XI. For his part, John Cena plays Peacemaker in DC, while in Fast & Furious he plays Jakob Toretto, Dom’s brother, played by Vin Diesel.
So Dwayne Johnson verbally confronted Austin Theory and then did the same with Pat McAfee, who greeted John Cena in a “tense” duel with The Rock, his old rival in the ring. The two then hugged while Cena celebrated Johnson’s return.
Dwayne Johnson and John Cena have already seen each other in the ring twice
As rivals, Dwayne Johnson and John Cena have been rivals twice, the first time in 2012 at the Wrestlemania 28 event, where The Rock won. The following year, the rematch at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey for the maximum WWE Championship went to the Peacemaker performer. After that they never faced each other in the ring again.

Will Dwayne Johnson actively return to WWE? It would be a more than remarkable move to revive their image after the failure of Black Adam in the DCEU, although we must add that both superstars are currently unemployed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Of course, there would be many fans who would applaud The Rock and John Cena returning to the WWE once again; Will Dave Bautista, another ex-fighter who transitioned into action films, do the same?
