A series of earthquakes and tremors in Chile has worried the country’s authorities. Every data, even in intensity and location, is monitored by the National Seismological Center (CSN) of the University of Chile.

Earthquakes in Chile
The country is distributed within a seismic zone, so it is normal to see tremors on several occasions during the day, although with different magnitudes. Mineduc explains that this phenomenon occurred because “Chile is located on the western edge of the South American plate, where the Nazca and Antarctic plates converge and produce subduction zones. On the other hand, the Scotia plate slides which is horizontal with respect to the South American plate, in a transcurrent plate boundary.
