A series of earthquakes and tremors in Chile are worrying the country’s authorities. All data, whether intensity or location, is monitored by the National Seismological Center (CSN) of the University of Chile.

Earthquake in Chile
The country lies in earthquake-prone soil, so it is normal to experience tremors several times a day, although of varying strength. The Mineduc explains that this phenomenon occurs because “Chile lies on the western edge of the South American plate, where the Nazca and Antarctic plates converge, creating subduction zones.” Meanwhile, the Scotia plate slides horizontally with respect to the South American plate, in a transcurrent plate boundary.”

Google warns of tremors and earthquakes
Google has developed a warning system that warns mobile devices running Android operating system seconds before they start shaking. It consists of a free alarm and a free message, which are available in two versions. If the tellurium movements exceed a magnitude of 5.0, an alarm will be sent to the people and a graphic warning will be displayed on the screen, accompanied by a loud sound that cannot be turned off, the aim of which is to protect the people.
