EcoProFleet enables a digitally optimized material flow

From compact cars to vans, the autonomous transport system EcoProFleet, developed by Dürr specifically for paint shops, transports bodies with great agility. The automated guided vehicle (AGV) achieves its full potential with the new DXQ software in conjunction with Dürr’s Digital Factory. Together, hardware and software enable variable production schedules, optimally controlled material flow, maximum efficiency and scalability in the industrial painting process.

AGVs are key to seamless transitions between platforms and factories for temporary storage of work, thus most of the spectrum of the process picture. This variety is designed for EcoProFleet. It can pick up any model of AGV, from compact cars, SUVs, and trucks to unique shapes like wagons, place them on work platforms, or keep them ready during the painting process.

In the painting shops of the future, where modular office desks replace old lines with their rigid cycle times, in the case of the EcoProFleet system, AGVs are moved up to 24 hours at a time.

It is the only autonomous system on the market that can work all the time, since it does not need to charge its power cells overnight like other models. Instead, EcoProFleet connects briefly to secure stations along its routes. These charging points are located where the AGV would otherwise be blocked, for example when moving a body onto a work platform. In a short time, it is enough to charge the capacitors so that the AGV has power once it is in physical position to immediately return to the production area and start the next job.

Flexible travel changes

DXQlogistics. Control software is tailor-made for Dürr’s logic control solution for autonomous transport systems. Digitally controlled material flow based on work platform usage, equipment and availability.

The software can autonomously define the next step, the work platform according to the physical type and the defined process steps. To optimize logistics, you can also take long-distance locations, such as extraordinary transport stations or temporary warehouses. In this way, you can always respond quickly, for example, if a work platform has been brought down or a revision of the physical surface requires an original change.

Finally, the combination of the independent transport system EcoProFleet and DXQlogistics. The software solution results in optimal use of all working platforms. Workers no longer wait for the next body as the software program takes all the work in advance and also takes time into the transport system. This makes the time unproductive and the cycle of wasted time obsolete and replaced by efficient production. Since Dürr DXQ hardware and software are perfectly coordinated and can be configured in detail thanks to their modular design, they will play a decisive role in making future painting plants much more flexible and scalable than before.
