Australian data center company Edge Centers has acquired Queensland-based operator Host Networks.
Terms of the deal, announced this week, haven’t been shared.
in agreement, Edge Centers will acquire a 550 kW, 130 rack facility in Brisbane’s Eight Mile Plains area, expandable to 200 racks and 800 kW.
Edge Centers said that over the next 12 months the facility will be upgraded to align with other Edge Center facilities with Tier III quality design, construction and operation. 11 carriers are present at the facility.

Host Networks was founded in 1998 to provide hosting and colocation services, and was acquired by Anvia Holdings Corporation in 2019. The company was sold to cyber security firm 3D Pioneer Systems in 2021 for $2.6 million.
The Eight Mile Plains data center, located at 53 Brandel Street, opened in 2007 and was upgraded in 2018. The company moved from AAPT to Powertel’s data center premises in Queen Street, Brisbane and the data center in Wickham Street, Fortress Valley.
Earlier this year, Edge Centers acquires US hosting provider Hyson, The company operates the space at a neutrality facility in St. Louis, Missouri. In 2022, Edge Centers acquires local rival DC Matrix and acquired two Australian facilities in Sippy Downs, Queensland and the Gold Coast. In 2021, the company also acquired the Snotification weather app from Lurado Software for weather forecasting.
