The grounds of the Pellegrini Institute, including its historic buildings and its hundred-year-old grove, have in the past few hours reclaimed a destiny that had been threatened. Based on an agreement signed between the municipality and the State Property Administration (AABE), 70 hectares of land can be used only for educational and scientific-technical purposes. Thus, the door is closed for a real estate business that was opened by the previous Together for Change government when it authorized residential and commercial use areas in the new urban code.
Mayor Federico Achalal signed the deal with AABE chief Martin Cosentino on Tuesday. This Wednesday he told El Diario that “the agreement sets the destination for the use of the property and provides protection so that it can be used only for the development of public and free education and research in science and technology.”
“This is part of the dispute we had with Cambymos, which made it possible to first settle it and second to allow it to be used in codes for housing and commercial activity,” he said.
Part of Pellegrini’s 70 hectares already has pre-accord use, which will be respected: 9 hectares are used by the Academic University (UNIPE), the other 7.5 for the Nobel Prize Peace and Justice Service Village (SERPAZ). is used for. Peace, Adolfo Perez Esquivel. The remaining 54 hectares will be available for educational programs of the municipality and the institutions with which it enters into agreements.
The agreement stipulates certain obligations. The main thing is that all generated projects should be public and free. There is no expiry period for the transfer of assets.
“Obviously the use is fixed and it allows for a strong link with UBA, which has a place there,” said Achwal, who has the idea of taking over CBC headquarters.
But the heart of the new educational multispace will be the National University of Pilar, whose construction has been delayed due to a lack of treatment at the deputy.
“When a university moves towards the approval of the law, there are phases. Having land adds to the institutional and educational project further,” he said.
The only lateral use of the space can be recreational, but always with an educational focus and new technologies, as Pillar Park was the past two summers.
The signed agreement reflects the plan submitted by the municipality to AABE to create an educational science and technology multispace, where UBA has the common basic circle, other public universities and pillars and assets dedicated to the research and technological development of the area.
It was underlined from the municipality that the property’s educational destination has a history dating back more than a century, when the Carlos Pellegrini de Pilar School was donated to the national state in 1911. Later, in 1999, it was declared a Municipal Historic Monument by ordinance. In 2009, through an agreement with the National Secretariat for Children, Adolescents and Families, the development of an educational pole was made official.
“Although former mayor Ducote’s management renewed the agreement in 2018, they tried to give it a different destination, a private housing and university campus, in which private clubs will also be located, all to the detriment of public property,” he said. inserted. from the municipality.
“This property was withheld by previous management, who thought it was for personal purposes, and today we are giving peace of mind to all who fought to care for Pellegrini.”
