Education Secretary in favor of making CCP virus vaccine mandatory for teachers

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona says he is in favor of requiring teachers across the country to be vaccinated against the CCP virus.

“I’m in favor of the need for vaccines,” Cardona Said During the National Press Foundation event on August 11. “If I had questioned whether it was safe or not, I would not have received the vaccine or my children would have got it.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced earlier that day that school workers would have to be vaccinated or face weekly testing by October 15; Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser announced a similar mandate for teachers on August 10. The city of Denver implemented a vaccine mandate on teachers on August 2.

Cardona said he believes some people will be more likely to be vaccinated once the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) receives full approval for one or more COVID-19 vaccines.

Cardona said, “I was hoping that the FDA would have the stamp already, but I respect that process and I understand that they are doing what they need to do to ensure safety and make sure that they are safe.” “

Officials at the local, state and federal levels are under increasing pressure to decide whether to enforce a vaccine and mask mandate on teachers, as schools prepare to restart amid a resurgence of COVID-19, powered by Delta Edition.

The seven-day average of total patients hospitalized with COVID-19 rose to over 59,000 from August 1 to August 9, the highest level since February. Pursuance Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The average number of daily vaccine doses given declined from mid-April to early July, when the delta variant became the most prevalent strain of the virus. As of August 11, more than 167 million Americans have been fully vaccinated, which is 50.3 percent of the US population.

Nearly four out of five US counties recorded high transmission levels of COVID-19 as of August 11, according to CDC.
