Eight Canadian police officers have been killed on duty in six months

The death of sergeant Maureen Breau, who was killed in an attack on Monday evening in Louiseville, has increased the heavy toll on police services in Canada, which have already lost eight police officers in the space of six and a half months.

Of the number six were killed, two were stabbed. Four of the suspects also lost their lives, three were shot dead and one who was conscious of his death, while the three suspects are facing justice.

Andreas Hong

This dark streak began on September 12 when Constable Andrew Hong was shot dead, apparently for no reason, in a Tim Hortons in Mississauga, a suburb of Toronto.

The suspect then fled and went to Milton where he had done the gargling before. There he killed the owner of the shop, Shakeel Ashraf, and the worker, Satwinder Singh, before he was finally caught and killed by the police.

Devon Northrup and Morgan Russell

On October 12 Constables Devon Northrup and Morgan Russell of the South Simcoe Police Department in Ontario were called to respond to a complaint of a reported domestic dispute at an Innisfil residence.

Upon their arrival, two public police officers were invited to the residence, before the dead man was shot dead by the only resident of the residence, a man who was lying down on the stairs leading to the police cell to deceive. The suspect was shot by a third officer who intervened.

Shaelyn Yang

Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer Shaelyn Yang, who was trained to work with people with mental health issues, was stabbed to death by a county employee in the City of Burnaby who was delivering signs to evict homeless people from a park in this municipality in British Columbia. .

The officer shot her attacker, Jongwon Ham, before he died. The latter is now facing trial for first-degree murder.

Grzegorz Pierzchala

On December 27, an OPP officer began his duties with his first-ever solo patrol.

In the afternoon a call was made to the location of the highway exit in Hagersville. He never suspected later that he was being ambushed by two suspects, including Randall McKenzie, a criminal who had been arrested on a warrant.

McKenzie and his sidekick, Brandi Stewart-Sperry, were arrested shortly after the incident and charged with first-degree murder of Constable Pierzchal.

Brett Ryan and Travis Jordan

On March 16, leaders Jordan and Ryan – who were first-time dads-to-be – were responding to a call for a “family discussion” in an Edmonton apartment when they were shot and unable to answer.

The suspect then took his own life, the police said, with his wife seriously injured.

By sheer coincidence, the funeral of two police officers was held on Monday in the hours before the death of Maureen Breau.

Maureen Breau

The sergeant, who had more than 20 years of experience with the Sûreté du Québec, was killed in a frenzied attack in Louiseville. Maureen Breau College was also injured in the incident, when the suspect died.
