El Salvador’s government this Saturday called for a detailed investigation by United States officials into the killings of three Salvadoran citizens in two separate incidents so far this week in that country. One case was reported in Long Beach, California, and the other in Alexandria, located in the state of Virginia.
“We strongly condemn the killing of three compatriots in the United States in two separate incidents,” Salvador’s Foreign Minister Alexandra Hill said on her Twitter account.
The diplomatic request is given by US officials as an attempt to clarify the facts and reach the final results.
“We stand in solidarity with the families of the victims and demand that US officials bring those responsible for these heinous crimes to justice.”Hill maintained.
Two Salvadorans were killed this week in an “attack” in the US city of Alexandria in the US state of Virginia after a man shot them for no apparent reason, according to a statement from Salvador’s foreign ministry.
The victims, whose names were not released, were a 48-year-old man and his 19-year-old son.Originally from the Salvadoran city of Ilobasco (59 km east of San Salvador), working on a construction site in Alexandria.
The second case, also this week, was the murder of a 78-year-old Salvadoran woman, whose name was also not made available.Who died after a knife attack on a street in Long Beach, California state.
According to the Salvadoran authorities, in accordance with the protocol of humanitarian attention, contacts have been established with the relatives of the deceased civilians to provide them with all consular support. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, in both the cases two subjects related to these reprehensible acts were already captured.
Migration statistics between the two countries show that there are approximately three million Salvadorans living outside El Salvador, of whom 2.5 million are in the United States.
