The operation was not made public in Colombia. But, a few weeks ago, under complete secrecy, Interpol agents apprehended at El Dorado airport in Bogotá a Colombian-Venezuelan who is part of the Venezuelan political class.
In Cúcuta he moved to a prosperous poultry businessman, head of Comercializadora Rior SAS. In addition, he is listed as a director of two companies in Panama: Green Rental Cars SA and Panaven Travel Agency Capital Investments.
But his fingerprints confirmed that he was in fact Richard Rodolfo Ramirez Green, a well-known drug trafficker with a red Interpol circular who had ties to both the Colombian Mafia and corrupt politicians close to Chavismo.
Despite the fact that she showed a Colombian ID to try to leave Bogotá, a Colombian immigration alert set off the alarm and demoralized her alibi.
Colombian authorities informed Venezuelans of the capture of Ramirez Green, 56, who is being prosecuted by the neighboring country’s Supreme Court (TSJ).
“I have the pleasure to address you, on the occasion of sending you a Bolivarian and revolutionary greeting and in return refer to the arrest of citizen Richard Rodolfo Ramirez Green on October 8, 2022 for extradition purposes”, reads a message that Colombian Ministry of External Affairs sent to Venezuela.
EL TIEMPO established that the man remains confined to a cell in La Picota prison in Bogotá, awaiting his transfer to Caracas, which, apparently, would not suit the neighboring country’s handful of officials.
This newspaper had access to his file and it says that Ramirez Green has already been sentenced to 8 years in prison. Everything indicates that he paid his sentence, jumped to Colombia (where he married) and continued to commit crimes with Cucuta.
What is known is that from across the border, he was coordinating cocaine shipments that reached Caracas with the tolerance and connivance of high-level politicians. And then, the cash was sent on drug flights to Central America, with final destinations in the United States and Europe. For this reason, Ramirez Green is prosecuted as a “director in a drug trafficking and criminal association”.
