Elbow kicks off whirlwind Perth trip with ritzy food

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese began his visit to Perth in style with a dinner at the lavish COMO The Treasury.

After his meal in the private dining room, Mr Albanese told The West that the food was “fantastic”.

Mr Albanese arrived in Perth on Saturday night and hurried to the high-end restaurant.

He was accompanied by Premier Mark McGowan and Minister of State for Education and Training Sue Ellery for the sumptuous meal.

COMO is one of Perth’s most glamorous establishments in the heart of downtown, with fine dining restaurants like Wildflower and premium hotel suites.

The establishment was named the Best Hotel in Australia and New Zealand at the 2016 Conde Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards.

The prime minister said his visit so far has been “fantastic”, and he is looking forward to his time in Perth.

Mr McGowan said he was delighted to welcome the Prime Minister to the state and added that he has a busy agenda while he is here.

Mr Albanese is set to make a public appearance on Sunday morning, first meeting with the WA Federal Caucus for a Thanksgiving barbecue.

Discussions about the future of WA are expected to be high on the agenda.

Mr Albanese’s visit to WA comes ahead of a three-day visit to Indonesia next week to meet with Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
