In daily activities it is important to meditate on the efficient use of energy and thus promote responsible consumption and raise awareness of its impact on the environment, especially today, World Energy Efficiency Day.
Both in the production chains and in the operation of any thing, energy efficiency lacks many benefits, for example: efficient buildings require less energy to function, so their consumption is lower, in turn reducing carbon emissions.
It should be noted that Smart Cities are those that create sustainable services that incorporate their design features, which are pleasant environments and spaces for users (both outside and inside), economically less expensive and environmentally friendly, through technologies that allow to reduce the use of resources such as energy and water, according to the National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy (Conuee).
Smart city developers probably already know the importance of energy efficiency in building infrastructure, but what they don’t know is how to make them economically viable.
In this regard, the company Trane indicated that there are at least three ways in which the modernization of the infrastructure of cities can help to build a community that is truly sustainable, resilient and prosperous in the long term.
1. Better buildings provide economic benefits. In the world, more than 40% of energy consumption is intended to provide comfortable and well-lit buildings.
Since this cost reduction leads to bill savings, this budget can be reallocated to future investments that improve indoor air quality, automation, or overall comfort.
2. Take advantage of energy savings to modernize. Through energy savings planning, smart buildings and cities, facility improvement and modernization projects can benefit from future energy savings.
In this way, the modernization of the building infrastructure becomes more possible, since it does not represent an extra cost in the budget, while economic and sustainability benefits are obtained in the process.
Improve the sustainability of buildings. The easiest way to accelerate climate action to offset carbon emissions is to buy decarbonization, water conservation, and energy efficiency for building infrastructure.
Additionally, facilities can be transitioned to rely on clean, renewable energy, which will further help reduce carbon emissions.
