ENGIE receives environmental approval for the La Ligua substation

The initiative is part of the company’s mission to further accelerate the energy transition by increasing the transmission capacity of the National Electric System (SEN).

The Environmental Evaluation Service (SEA) has approved the Environmental Impact Statement (DIA) of ENGIE Chile’s La Ligua Substation (SE) project in the municipality of La Ligua, Valparaíso region.

The initiative – which involves an investment of $24 million – consists of the construction of a new SE that will allow the division of the 2×220 kV Nogales – Los Vilos and 1×110 kV Quínquimo – Cabildo lines.

“One of the keys to the decarbonization process of the energy matrix is ​​transmission. According to the expansion plan of the zonal electricity transmission system promoted by the Ministry of Energy in Exceptional Decree No. 185, the SE La Ligua project aims to support the improvement of the security, continuity and flexibility of the SEN.
